Sentinels
03:59
|
|||
Standing in the forest, counting all the trees
Reaching for each other, while swaying in the breeze
Sentinels at attention, columns joined but apart
Aligned by their elders, who nourished them from the very start
Storm winds will blow, branches may break
The heart continues beating, even when it aches
Tend to your soil, we all need fertile ground
Tread lightly on the path, and those all around
It’s time for us to grow
Put down roots of our own
Learn to move through the world
With each other, not alone
We’re stronger together
While looking for the sun
Make room for others
Each and everyone
If you could count my rings
or see what I have seen
would you better understand
just why I might lean?
Blow out the fire
Put down the blade
Thoughts will lead to words
Thoughtless words can take……….take it all away
It’s time for us to grow
Put down roots of our own
Learn to move through the world
With each other, not alone
We’re stronger together
While looking for the sun
Make room for others
Each and everyone

My Guiding Light
02:44
|
|||
Stumbling down the cross roads of life
your strong hands a compass in the twilight
Not knowing forks that may lay in the road
you gently point to the left or right
Tumbling towards the divide
headed for trouble you stayed by my side
Before I could find my way into harm
you caught me, held me, with your loving arms
You’ve been my guiding light for so long
showing me the way between right and wrong
You said your goodbyes closed your loving eyes
In a moment my light was gone
Through the years you were always there
no matter the challenge you showed you care
Helping others in search of their dreams
with your charming style and flare
Now I stand on my own
I’ll follow the guiding way that you’ve shown
You moved through the world in such a beautiful way
I feel your love and direction everyday
You’ve been my guiding light for so long
Showing the way between right and wrong
Said your goodbyes closed your loving eyes
In a moment my light was gone
You’ve been my guiding light for so long
Showing the way between right and wrong
Said your goodbyes closed your loving eyes
In a moment my light was gone

She Sees The World
03:13
|
|||
Strolling down a brown path
emerald forest sings its song
dew drops from mossy trees
golden rays at dawn
She sees the world, she sees the world
Gracefully she softly kneels
a treasure she has found
a patch of green till now unseen
cradled in her palm
She sees the world, she sees the world
What does it take for you and me
to have eyes and see what she can see?
it’s not the colors, it’s not the gray
she sees the world, in a different way
Rising up her gaze drifts
towards the clear blue sky
a busy buzzing bumble bee
slowly rumbles by
She sees the world, she sees the world
Take a minute take the time to simply understand,
little things surrounding us are a big part of the plan
Give them the love, show that you care
Open your eyes and see what has always been there
What does it take for you and me
to have eyes and see what she can see?
it’s not the colors, it’s not the gray
she sees the world, in a different way
She sees the world, she sees the world
She sees the world, she sees the world

How Many Times
04:05
|
|||
How many times have you been walking
walking on your own,
feel a tap on your shoulder
though you’re all alone?
Or maybe hear a whisper
a whisper in your ear?
Felt someone else’s tear drops
or someone else’s fears?
If we could only learn to listen
listen to what we hear
or take time to heal the heartaches
of those we hold dear
How many times have been talking
words so true to you,
was there any space remaining
for other truths in the room?
Or maybe see a vision
through someone else’s eyes,
or touch a flame of passion
though your hands are by your sides?
Let the walls around you crumble
Send them to the ground
Open your heart of others
Love is all around
How many times have you been crying
crying all alone,
or feel pain and heartache
you made all on your own?
Maybe ask for forgiveness
even if its new,
that tapping on your shoulder
just might be coming from you
How many times have you been walking
walking on your own?

Marine And The Queen
03:23
|
|||
This is a story about a young Marine and his future Queen
and the day he saw the prettiest girl he’d ever seen
He was a groomsman the queen was a bridesmaid
together they walked arm in arm on that fateful day
He stepped off the bus, just 18
a new recruit new marine
head to toe dressed in green
they shipped him off to the Philippines
Clock ticking slowly by
wondering what next he’d try
time was up he headed home
stepped off the bus into the unknown
She was bright just 18
Had big plans had big dreams
Down from the top of Queen Ann Hill
Future Queen, looking for a thrill
Clock ticking slowly by
friend said will you stand by my side
on my special wedding day
“will you help me out send me on my way?”
She said “Yes”
Young Marine tall and lean
saw the prettiest girl he’d ever seen
He a groomsman she a bridesmaid
arm in arm on that fateful day
They did their job, wedding bells rang
off to the party a big sha-bang
When it was over they were not
Things got steamy, things got hot
The Marine and the Queen they were wed
Love birds chirped inside their heads
No slowing down move faster still
6 months later had a baby girl
Well how’bout what do ya know
60 years together 4 kids in tow
Twists and turns they took in stride
Like the marine and queen just enjoy ride
Young Marine tall and lean
saw the prettiest girl he’d ever seen
He a groomsman she a bridesmaid
arm in arm on that fate----ful day

Sweet Rosemary
05:03
|
|||
Verse 1
Have a seat dear, sit down with me
let me pour you a nice cup of tea
tell me your stories, I’ll tell you mine
we’ll sit together, we’ll have a real nice time
Verse 2
Take a stroll, down to the lake
hear the silence this water makes
giving space, for your thoughts to sink in
step off the dock, take your mind for a swim
Chorus
Rust colored bricks, stacked in straight lines
still cool water sparkles in the sunshine
more than a home, a place to run free
a moment in time, with sweet Rosemary
Verse 3
Stories traded, with laughter and tears
Roads less traveled from all of her years
“Well there you have it”, and “that’s neither here nor there”
“that’s just fancy thinking and will get you nowhere”
Verse 4
I have this nice pear, and a slice of cheese
a little bowl of almonds, to go with your tea
our talk lingers, we forget the time
no more tea, here is a small glass of wine
Chorus
Verse 5
truth is, we all do the best we can
no pre-ordained journey, no master plan
this time and place it’s a piece of our story
we take our best swing at life “no guts no glory”)
Verse 6
and ain’t it funny, how time slips away
it’s easy to remember all we didn’t say
hold next to your heart, the time we did share
all of the love, all of the care
Chorus
rust colored bricks, stacked in straight lines
still cool water sparkles in the sunshine
more than a home, a place to run free
a moment in time,
a moment in time, with sweet Rosemary

Spinning
03:08
|
|||
Another morning sun rise shuts my tired eyes
Ignites my memory of who, what where, & why
No time for brakes, go peddle going through the floor
I have never been this early being late before
Where are we going, now wait how could this be
who said this destination was right for you and me?
We’re circling round and round, in an orbit that is so tight
It’s got us running away, morning noon and night
Twisting turning spinning round
inside upside down
I am underwater pull the plug
before the flood
I put my own shoes on, pull my laces nice and tight
why did it take so long to finally see the light?
My time my destination setting my own pace
no one can really say which run I have to race
Twisting turning spinning round
inside upside down
I am underwater pull the plug
before the flood
Another morning sun rise shuts my tired eyes
Ignites my memory of who, what where, & why
